One of our fabulous Art Tutors, Sonja Karl, is holding an exhibition of her works in Wollongong these School Holidays!
Sonja’s work brings out the birds innate nature of freedom by capturing a lively essence against the stark background of empty space. Using the medium of ink on paper, a permanent image in the shapes and colours that identify the birds in nature is created.
Specifically focusing on the birds of Australia in the categories of vulnerable endangered and critically endangered and as a supporter of Birdlife Australia, Sonja hopes to give back to the wonderful animals that she describes.
Sonja is a contemporary inter disciplinary artist who teaches at SGSCC 3 days a week, and has participated in “Artist in Residency” programs and numerous community arts projects.
Working in the areas of installation, sculpture, painting, drawing, printmaking, photography, encaustic and ephemeral art, Sonja utilizes a varied selection of materials and mediums.
